Strategy for Finding the Book:
I found the book while taking a sports psychology class at UNC. I thought that this book would help me answer my question because it has many different chapters about motivation and coaching styles.
Rationale for Using Book:
I thought the book would be helpful because it is a sports psychology book.
General Evaluation of the Book:
a. The book was written by two psychologists. The book was intended to be a learning tool for people who want to learn more about sports psychology. It is a fairly recent book so the information is still valid.
b. The book is informative, educational, and persuasive so i would say it would be evaluating information.
c. The book is educational because it talks about a lot of research and it explains the research and the theories that go along with the research. It is informative in that it provides research information and strategies. And it is educational because it is a textbook and is used for educating people.
d. Scholarly v Popular: what might be a scholarly use of the topic may not be the most popular.
Search Strategies:
a. I used the table of contents and the index to search for my topic.
b. I used terms like motivation because that pertains to my topic.
c. I combined terms like motivation and leadership to broaden my search.
d. I skimmed through other chapters that may have contained research information.
e. I found a chapter related to motivation in the book and one on leadership.
6. A Summary of Information Yielded by the Book:
a. The book has various topics and information about sports psychology.
b. There is an entire chapter on motivation that contains various forms of motivation and several different strategies that can be used.
c. The book will definitely help me answer my question as there is a whole chapter on motivation.
Question:
I feel that I don't need to make changes to my question.
