Book Evaluation

A complete citation for the book

Strategy for finding the book

I was able to use the net library website that was posted on the class blog. The key word I used was “Fashion Design”. Very quickly I was able to find a book I thou was best for the research question I had come up with.

Rationale for selection of the book

Before I even reviewed this book entirely I thought it would be useful in my search to answering my question for the pure reason of the title. Which stated “the Guide to the Fashion Industry” this very phase seemed as if it had all the answers that I was looking for. The guide that would led me to the process of marketing the product.

General evaluation of the book

There were different chapters within the book that led to the specifics in fashion, how your character must be when dealing with this business to what types of career opportunities there are available in the fashion industry. The attended audience for this book is those who are looking at fashion as a career and becoming familiar with the different type of jobs that are out there.

Example strategies used to search within the book

One of the very first steps I took to search for information is I read the first 3 pages which was the introduction to see exactly what I was getting into. Then from there I used the context page to search for the specific information I was looking for. This strategy continued to work as I searched, read, and schemed through the entire book learning and taking in knowledge.

A brief summary of the information yielded by the book.

What I have learned from this book is that the “fashion publishing market is bigger than ever.”(Page 45) this book is basically taking fashion and exploring the opportunities that could become of it, and publish marketing seems to be what is popular. The publishing year must be taken in to consideration though because it is no longer 2001 so publishing may or may not be the hot field as of right now.

A revised draft of your research question, if one is needed

This book didn’t give me as much information about marketing the product and getting it out on the market, but it did help me become familiar with all the different types of jobs with in the fashion industry. I will not be changing my research questions even though the book didn’t answer my question specifically because on the brighter side I was able to get plenty of information from my website evaluation.
