Strategy for finding the book:
I found this book on the Netlibrary. I was curious to know about the interface and presentation that the library would use to attempt to convey to the student that this would be an effective way to study material.
Rationale for selection of the book:
I selected this book because it was available free and because it proposed a dynamic way for students to be able to appreciate the material they are be asked. I personally think that being able to search through a text that is aimed at debunking the real problems that students face, on demand, is quintessential in the current digital age
General evaluation of the book:The book is a solid, “Howstuffworks or For Dummy’s” kind of approach to Economics, but its seems to hold no bars, and really get at what students need to hear. It is as though it were written by TA’s, who seem more often to be concerned, in class, whether students are understanding material.Example strategies used to search within the bookThe text does an excellent job of guiding students through the book, but also is search friendly, with simple clear chapter and even topic and section selection.
A brief summary of the information yielded by the book:
The book does well to emphasize that studying Economics is a culture into itself, one whose approach might necessitate a shift in the general goal of college education. A successful economics student does not focus on the grades – one focuses on comprehension and constant application. This is consciousness does not arise easily in the classroom without clear indications from a professor. Nonetheless, the competition associated with class often will result in a student geared towards recitation and regurgitation – not the technique to understand higher level Economic topics
A revised draft of my research question
I have revised my question to exclude Econ 400, though I do believe that a guide would be awesome, I think finding already cited sources will be challenging so I will just propose my own solution towards the end of my research. Nonetheless the question still stands, Are digital study aids and implements effective means for enhancing a student’s comprehension in Economics.
